Chemeketa Guided Pathways

Icon Design

Chemeketa Community College engaged my icon design class to create a set of icons based on the different career paths available to students in their Guided Pathways program. Working collaboratively with a classmate Julia Savage on the initial concept, I established our design rationale. In creating the icons, I utilized simple lines and open shares to create a visual path through the icon, representing the path students will take through school. I enjoyed the challenge of combining several careers into a single symbol and creating mind maps and thumbnails to help solve the visual problem. The design for agriculture, industrial technology, and skill trades was especially fun to work through.

As my team’s designs were selected for implementation, I continued to work with the committee in refining the designs. The designs were incorporated into the course catalog documents, the website, and banners throughout the Salem campus.
